total vauxhall's omega mod suggestion
« on: 18 April 2009, 00:02:16 »

the other week total vauxhall mag suggested that an omega with a z20leh (astra vxr engine) fitted would be ace

i wondered about this as a) the 2.0 omegas are significantly underpowered, regardless of turbo, and b) the comparitive performance against a 3.0 / 3.2 v6. it's true that you rarely see modded omegas, for a variety of reasons i know, but i couldn't quite see why i should be tempted to remove my 3.0 v6 lump for a 2.0 turbo?

(and i fully expect 'the boy' to say total vauxhall are gay etc etc)...  ;D

That's be a P6B then!  ;) There's 1 that lives near me, in regular-ish use too.

Rover V8 I would not use....under powered and a litlle fragile.

Somebody on here as a 2.0 turbo in an omega.

I personaly think a 2.8 V6 turbo or V8 is the way to go though

---------------------------

Interesting thought about Turbo'ing the 2.8 v6, though from what I've read in this short time about Omega engine conversion, sounds like going the v8 isn't quite as stright forward or practical on the handling side of things ?!.  :-?.

Though have been tempted to do a v8 project myself, only use a Chevy v8. Hell why not, you only live once !.

Mind you saying that, in the newspaper today its said that fuel at the pumps seams to be growing in price rather rapidly yet again !  :o .

The easiest V8 would be the Northstar, as GM did all the work, and it is documented in TIS...

Yup.  Reliability issues, probably around cooling when driven hard

Ah.... The Lexus 4.0 V8 engine.... Now it's all making sense to me.

Came across a site that I think is Norwegian or Swedish, some Icelandic country like that.

Couldn't understand the language, but the photos told the whole story, they used a what I think was a mini face lift Saloon, it was manual geared. And they used a Lexus V8, but not only that, looks like they rebuilt the engine with steel conrod & pistons, plus they Turbocharged the motor as well.... talk about being greedy with wanting power !!  :o .

put a mild rear boot spoiler, and lowered it, and put set of wheels on it, which I think looked too good, it looked nice, but wouldn't get too much attention, looked classy at the same time as being different.

Anyone else seen the site ?.

Erm.... Lexus V8.. that's given me an idea !  ::)
