Welcome to the club (hiatus hernia club)
I got diagnosed with that some 14 years ago and It can be unpleasant i know, but with a little bit of common sence its not a problem.
Avoid acidic foods and coffee is out unless its decaf.
The best tip i got was to raise the headboard end of the bed so you dont vomit in your sleep, I did and slightly damaged the vocal chords but there OK now.
A brick under each corner of the headboard end of the bed and thats job done.
If you take it easy and avoid the heavy drinking =curry sessions, you will be back to normal by Christmas. :y

Yes mate I know what your saying.
I was lucky as my GP was also a mate of mine and he said listen to your body its telling you something isnt wright.
The raising of the headboard end of the bed took some getting use to , but atleast I got a good nights sleep and that is very important.
Your system has been damaged by the acid and needs a rest from it you need to take it easy for a while so the damage can repair its self.

Hi Rich,
Didn't know you had this problem, if I'd known we could have exchanged horror stories!!! ;D.

What tablets are you taking, Lansoprazole?

When i had my first attack of this about 7 years ago i thought i was having a heart attack and so did the paramedics until they put me on a heart monitor :o.

Did you have the camera done the throat test, oh what a joy that was :(.

Got to admit I've not had any problems for around 3 years now and intend/hope to keep it that way, best way i found to give up smoking is to just quit which i did in May 96 after 22 years of trying to slowly kill myself ::) but i suppose everybody's different :(.

        Hope you stay pain free,

                           Pete :y

not sure what is the reason for this, but doesn't sound too bad to me.  Bacon sarny anyone :y

i had iron deficiency anemia. and now have haitia hernia and severe acid reflux which is doing good as long as i stay on the pills.

I have had hiatis hernia for 10 yrs. I think it's for life. :'( Chewing gum seems to help? Don't know why.
