Possible losing of licence
« on: 05 May 2009, 21:32:34 »

I had a trip to Nuneaton today & as i drove down the M1 through the road works with the average speed cameras, i had a thought.
If you was to drive at say 55mph or 60mph for the whole duration of the road works & so passing every speed camera. Would you just get the one ticket or would you lose your licence?
Any ideas?

One per camera I believe :o :o ::) ::)

Although you may be able to argue it in court and keep your license :-/ :-/

Nothing good on the radio to think about Pete?

Best mate had 9 points put on his license for 3 offenses on the same road so yes in theory you must be able too.

Based on above using logic not knowledge  ;)

went through the 50 average section of the M1 on the way to york, i set the cruise at 50, no issues. The amount of people flying though at 65+ was unbelievable.

What part of average speed don't they get!

Assuming the temp limit was set at 50mph.....

You are allowed 10% + 2...which means you can go through at a true 57mph without fear.
It's a written guarantee (as guaranteed as death and taxes) that your speedo over-reads anyway, so if your speedo says your doing 50...it's odds on you are only hitting a true 48 at best.

Borrow a sat nav and cross check your speedo, the sat nav will be a darn site more accurate than your speedo will ever be.

My SatNav read 47 in the 50, but whats the point in chancing it?

Each force or Safety Partnership is free to set their own limits, and they do vary. Some are doing zero tolerance (M4 from Swindon to near M32 being an infamous part).

As to satnav, most satnavs are desperately inaccurate due to the way the maps are built.

On Omegas, its fair to say the speedos tend to read 1-2mph over, across entire range.

I find the most ironical thing about it is the fact that the first/last 3 points I received expired 2 days before I got these!  :y

I had a clean license for 2 days!!!  :-?  :y  :y
