Typical, anyone else would have got a 12 month ban, so they should have made this ars**ole pay dearly for his position!!!
.
No they wouldn't, as per the other thread on the same subject, i was caught at just over 103mph average over 3 miles on the A14 and went to Sudbury magistrates court ended up with 28 day ban, no points and £300 fine, he appears to have been given a lot stiffer punishment, as he needs a driver now for work he will be paying!!
Fair punishment for the crime if you ask me
Mr Riall will also be paying a lot more for insurance for a long time to come, not that I expect that will bother him.
Maybe Volvo will bail him out, as it must be good publicity for their cars. (I always thought all Volvos were limited to 56 MPH).
Maybe the banks will help him out too; as if it wasn't for the billions collected in speeding fines thanks to his firm's speed cameras the government would not have been able to bail them out.

All things considered, I think Mr Riall got quite a heavy penalty. I have been caught driving at three figure speeds before now and got away with either a warning, or three points and a fine.

I suspect the Judge was making something of an example of him, and may also have considered the fact that he would have known how to avoid being caught by his own firm's fixed speed cameras.
Poetic justice at its best.
