Beam Me Up Scottie To Kwik Sh*t - What a Day
« on: 08 May 2009, 17:10:20 »

Day started with excitement as going to see new Star Trek film in Imax Manchester for 11.00am showing.

Left a little late and then got caught up in the road collapsing in Gorton, Manchester http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/8039498.stm

Arrived at car park with only 10 mins left before film start and saw 2 foot of "horsehair" hanging out of the back of the exhaust on my mig. One small tug and this then went to 8 feet!!

Said sod it and got into seats just as film started. Brilliant film, great dialogue, special effects & story (but DON'T watch it on an Imax Screen - there is just too much going on at the same time).

Returned to car and called the main man Loo-knee - he explained about back boxes and noise and things that went right over my head. On his advice went to Kwik Sh*t to have a look at really want was needed.

Turned out I needed everything from the Cat Converter to the back pipe. Price quoted was £331. Told him I couldn't afford it and the price IMMEDIATELY then dropped to £281  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( Why didn't they say that first time instead of trying to screw me out of an extra £50 quid????  >:( >:(

As Loo-knee pointed out when I called him again for the same price I could get genuine Vauxhall parts which will last twice as long as the crap they would put on which is now exactly what I am going to do.

To make things worse - when the car was on the ramp I then saw that the rear tyre needs replacing!!   :(

So tonight I am going to get a chinese takeaway, open a few bottles and watch the 2 new episodes of Bones we have on the Sky planner.

Tomorrow I will then try and sell anything within reach (including wife, children, cat, etc) to pay for todays disasters ;) ;)

Sorry to hear your bad luck.

For exhausts, check on here for reviews of this company http://eternalcar.com/ as they seem to be pretty good, and dirt cheap! :y :y

Kwik-Fit staff are nothing more than semi-trained lab rats (and I use the term "semi-trained" very loosely).

Kwik-Fit will employ anyone who is daft enough to work a 60 hour week, for little above minimum wage in the way of renumeration, while putting up with bull$hit from a "manager" that is just as ill educated in motor vehicle engineering as the fitter themselves.
That in itself should tell you all you need to know.

Everything is commission based, so you will get f*cked up the arse you minute you drive on the forecourt.

Seriously mate, I wouldn't let those cocks work on my lawnmower....let alone something as serious as a motor car.

The last time my father went to quicksh#t he needed a complete exhaust for his Hyundi pony, They gave him a good price so he said OK,
three hours later he went back to pick up the car and got a bit of a shock. The origional (new) exhaust was at least a foot longer than the car itself.  Never go to quicksh#t tere not that good. ;)

Only used them once and that was once too many.

Went to have two unidirectional tyres fitted. I'll leave you to
guess which direction the arrows on the sidewalls were
pointing when they had finished.  ::)

A local lad on the ABS forum told a similar tale at a local tyre bay. The girl fitter fitted 4 unidirectional tyres to the 4 rims she had been given .... yes ... all the same way. Ian pointed it out that two were 4r$e about face, after a looooong discussion the penny eventually dropped ..... "I've always done them like that" she said! :o

They dont like me in Kwik fit. I only ever go for tyres and, while all the other customers sit obediently in the waiting room, I stand by the fitting bay, watching their every move. If they try to over tighten my nuts (oo-er) a loud cough and a glance at the torque wrench usually does the trick.

I'd have thought most Kwik Sh*t fitters would have thought a torque wrench was something to prop the door open with

I think they have learned about torque settings now Tony. Let's face it, it was talked about so often on forums and the like, even females knew about it and probably mentioned it to the fitter to appear knowledgeable ::)

Still no good if their windy gun is set to a higher torque than their wrench!  ::)  ::)  :y

What I actually said was to phone or call around different exhaust places as the prices vary. When you called and said that it was around £280 odd, I then said Vauxhall exhaust are around the same price which are far better quality.  :y

I only ever went into kwik fit once when my middle box was breaked.

Went in and asked for a quote, but all i wanted was for them to put it on the ramp so I could have a look ;D

Apologies if I misled the forum - that is exactly what Daz said. Unfortunately in sleepy Glossop Kwik Sh*t is the only place in town that I know of.  :y
