veccy B MAF problem

well i think it is.   Its a 10 year old veccy b (X18XE), stalling at low revs.  Just done a paperclip test and it shows 0100 MAF sensor.  

Before I throw some money at it (i.e new MAF)  does anyone know if there is something else that is likely to be causing this other than the MAF itself?  I must say I don't know lots 'bout the veccy

Have you tried cleaning the IAC, was a very common fault on X18XE and X20XEV

If the paperclip test is pointing to the MAF sensor, why doubt it?

The icv has been changed so I think I can discount that.  

Breathers could be blocked as well.  however I don't think that the MAF code would come up without a problem with the MAF

Check the corrugated pipe that connects the MAF to the throttle body for splits.

Thanks guys.  I've checked the air intake pipe between the MAF and throttle. Its ok, signs of splittling but defo not split yet.

Can someone give me more info on the TIS update.  From what I can find it applies to the X18XE1 not X18XE as I have and the symptoms include a fault on a temp sensor as well.

Just want to be sure before I condemn the MAF.

have you tried the idler control I had it cleaned on my old miggy and that cured my cutting out problems :) :) :) :)

Yep. The icv has been changed so can discount that.  I do suspect the MAF but want to eliminate the obvious alternatives

I fixed the same prob on a 10yo vectra b yesterday.

p0100 not present stored

cleaned icv, and throttle body (only a little, was clean and holes clear, so wiped over with carb cleaner)
cleaned breathers

all ok now.

There was a leaking vac pipe on the solenoid at the top right of the engine.  The leak was not on the solenoid to manifold but on the pipe going from solenoid.

I have no idea what this solenoid does ( top right above dis pack): any ideas?

I haven't looked at an omega engine for donks, but I think you'll be looking at the rear multi-ram.

Found out it also triggered the MAF error code at speed. Think it confirms its the MAF?
