There are an awful lot of myths and untruths about Linux, both from a stability view, and scalability view, a security view, and a cost view.

- and that was what drove my inquiry - have the Dec issue of Personal Computer world which gives me the impression that using one of the *nix variants is definately to be considered an advantage.

So, on the desktop, unless you have a particular need, stick to Windows.

- Yup, will do - don't have a particular need and thanks for your input TB

On a server, carefully consider your requirements, and check out all options - if you need Unix, you might be better off using a proper Unix.

And what did they say the Pros were?

Every system has pros and cons, its about matching up your requirements.

I think TB should get the profanity checker to recognise Linux / Ubuntu as a profanity and replace it with something more suitable.... then again it could only really replace it with another profane word!

I think my views on Linux are well known, but the last 24hrs has made me detest the hypervisor product we're using with a livid passion  >:(
