« on: 02 June 2009, 22:13:56 »

as I have a big hole in my roof. I started to fit a window today and being a tight arse I bought a window made in Hungary, needless to say the instructions are in Hungarian. Got most of it done just got to cut the tiles ::)

Pete, I'm thinking of doing this. Can you let me know what's involved, such as if building regs come into it, sealing around the edge, cost of window, climbing on roof... etc?

To do: Replace brake discs and pads; adjust already replaced shoes; check for leaks in oil cooler, cambelt area, crank seals, sump, dipstick; replace osf door; replace a tyre; clean, MOT.

I've got one of those. Just needs air con now, cos it was 32 degrees in there yesterday evening. :o

Might just take the barbecue up there and pretend it's a sauna. 8-)

Mine's purely for storage so building regs don't come into it ::)

You don't have to climb on the roof as everything can be done from inside. Don't do what i've done and buy cheap, the window is crap, your best going for something like a velux window and it should come with instructions. I'm an average DIYer and all I did was have a read up before I started the job ;)

It was a bit warm up there yesterday but I found if I open the bedroom windows you get a good through draft, as I was cutting the wood the sawdust was rising through the opening in the roof :)

Mine would be too, and for a bit more light when I'm up there. Can't even stand up in it either, so definately not another 'room'.

I should probably get round to putting a Velux window in mine so I can shift some more air (and light) through it. Only a dinky window in each gable end at the moment.

I (also) don't want to bring attention to the fact that it might not be for "storage". Council tax is 200 quid a month as it is. :o
