The company i work for, was bought out by an American firm just over a year ago, since then we have been building a new 'global' platform for our mobile services across the world (instead of having 3 separate platforms)
The writing was on the wall, now we have completed a major chunk of it, the Americans have cut resources in EMEA technology by 50% some very knowledgeable Java & PHP people have been cut.
The have done this despite not having 1 country working on the new platform, and the Americans simply do not understand the european markets. The project is also months behind schedule.
I am safe for now, but i fear London will become a commercial only operation inside 12 months.
I was on LinkedIn today, i saw an interesting job, and decided to apply tongue & cheek. Sent the CV off, within 1 hour got a reply asking me to come in for an interview. Pays 7k more than my current position.
However, i think i will stay where i am for now, i still like working there, great people and i know the current systems inside out, which will become even more valuable as resources go, the chap above me is also going traveling soon.
Still going for the interview though, be interested to see if i could get it.
