Advice needed for in the garden

I need to remove a large concrete slab from my back garden so I can get a rotorvator in to turn over the earth.

What is the best way for removing/breaking this concrete up?

The concrete is around 6 inches deep.

Help please :)

Hit it very hard several times with a sledge hammer and it will disintrdgate :y

Totally agree; `life`s too short to be breaking 6" concrete manually.....an electro-pneumatic breaker will do it fast and renting one really isn`t expensive!;)

How large is large? if you can get a scaffold pole or such under one side,then lever it up a few inches and then get someone to hit the middle of the concrete,the thing should break up,as long as it's not reinforced! if it is reinforced, go down the road of getting a breaker -sooo much easier ;D

terribly sorry old boy, I am a little tired.....if only they were sold as metric!

Mind you, one of the ones I have is older than me!

 Its an electric breaker like a kango. they are ok for walls and thin concrete, but you wont make much impact on 6"stuff . if you dont want to sledgehammer it you can hire a hydraulic breaker which is similar to a pneumatic road drill but more portable :y

Actualy Hilti is a trade name and they make alsorts of tools , go to a tool hire place tell them what you are trying to do they will  I am sure tell you the best tool for the job  :y
