That reminds me Zulu of a holiday in a Florida Villa at Kissimmee.  Just about 1400 one afternoon a typical Florida storm approached whilst my hubby and the children played in the pool, which was protected by a complete metal 'cage' to stop the crocodiles and other nasties getting in.   Anyway I got the kids inside, and the ex got out of the pool but, typically, decided to watch the storm under this cage.

Suddenly there was an almighty flash and simultanous enormous thunder clap, which saw my hubby fly into the villa looking rather white! :o :o :o :o

The lightening had actually hit the cage, and took out the air conditioning.  We called the villa management team, explaining what had happened to a manager who turned up.  He just said "have you noticed the scorch marks above all the electrical sockets?"  "Well that is from an earlier strike; before that there was one that blew up the second of two televisions"!!  He then went on to explain that ours was one of many lightening strikes on the villa, which many vilas suffered around those parts ever since the Sea World tower had been built, and it now acted like some electrical storm conductor with the weather revolving around it.  We never again stayed under the cage when a storm was due!! :o :o :D :D :D ;)

Yup we could see the lightning strikes whilst driving up the A1 earlier. Rained all through Yorkshire they're welcome to it too.

What has Yorkshire done to you in Lancashire then? ::) ::) ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

It always rains in lancashire....it was hammering it down on Friday morning whilst I was working on 47292!

Got bloody soaked!
Should have been at the EA meet it was bloody lovely there. ;D

Was out in it when the heavens oped up today, like others have said had to slow right down to 20 mph just to see the road.  Drains were over flowing on the roads with in minutes as they just could not cope with the ammount of rain.  Then the Lightning and Thunder started.  :-/ :-/

Reminded me of when we were in Malta when I was 18,  We had just come out of a bakey at the top of a steep hill as the heavens opened, with in 10 minutes the water was 6 to 8 inches deep going down the hill.  By 5 Pm St Pauls bay the water/sea level was up to the window rubbers on our marina hire car,

just shows how powerfull Mother Nature is at times and how unprepared most countries ar with thier drainage systems.
