Considering one of these , just wondering if anyone has got one or seen one in action.

i have a 40 inch samsung, but its the 6 series, not the 5, which i guess is the one mentioned here from the product code.

Its an excellent TV, and has a great picture, if you run a HD signal through it you get all the detail and crispness, but with some tweaking to the settings you can avoid the "false" look you can sometimes get with HD.

For settings, you can normally google them and get a result from a home theatre style website.

40 inches is an ideal size for most living rooms, as unless your room is huge, the tv will dominate the room without a huge viewing benefit, they always look smaller in the store!!!

before you buy always try to see the screen in action, if its ok in a shop getting whats probably a mediocre signal at best, it'll be fine once you get it home and fiddled with.

From what I read i have a no quibble 14 day money back gaurantee as long as I save all the bitz and packaging.  As mentioned in previous posts/threads I really do fancy the LED 46" b ut it's too new and exspensive as it's newish technologgy.

I get 4 HDMI (1 being on the side) and 2 scarts, so a nice balance for connectivity, as at the moment, I have a PS2, Xbox, freeview box, DVD recorder and Div X that all are still Scart, with the HDMI being required for the Sky HD and newer consoles and DVD equipment as and when  (if) I upgrade.

Also when I do go to LED hopefully in 2 or 3 years then this one goes in my bedroom.

I looked at this and considered it as well as some of the Toshiba models.

As I mentioned this is my first flat screen and originally was just going £400/500 on the budget.  This is £100 over the budget but carries a full 3 year warrany, plus its with a company I have dealt with for years, plus I know 2 of thier TV engineers so am happy to go the extra on the budget.

To be fair mark, I had a lengthy chat with oneof the guys in the shop regard my pending purchase and compairing other models to it, plus warranties etc.  When the subject of the LED TV's came up he explained to me how the backing lighting worked and mentioned the biggest problem they had been having was projecting light at the centre part of the screen.  Apparently panasonic are having the biggest problems with thier projects and Samsung are the leaders at the moment.  But even advised me to hang fire on the LED for a year or two.  For which I commented is that why the is only a 12 month warranty offered.  As expected the reply was yes.  Anything they are happy with they offer 3 years, and reading between the lines the stuff they want rid of gets 5 years.

Everyone is going to have a different opinion Skruntie, so here's my advice to you.

Take your favorite DVD/Blu-ray movie along to the store of your choice.
Get them to set up a decent player to the set you like the look of that's currently being fed with a crappy composite signal.
Alter the user controls (brightness/contrast/etc) to suit yourself.
Look at everything in your price range the same way.
Make your decision based on what YOU see (and hear) for yourself....because you are the one who will have to look at it for the next 5 years.

talk to the seller and definitely ask in case of problem

what are the conditions to change the tv or changing

with another brand.. and ask them to write on the

paper..

And since then its been fine....Samsung have about the best IRR and YRR rates going.
