Health Club Return
« on: 03 August 2009, 16:22:17 »

I have at last rejoined a health club, one of the Bannattyne's chain that I knew previously as Livingwell in Ashford. Today I went through their induction and exercise programme compilation

Maybe, just maybe, I can get into a routine of healthy exercise in the gym and the pool again to lose some terrible excess weight.  If I can drop two or even three dress sizes I will be happy. ::) ::) ::) ;) ;)

Spent too much time studying books, sitting in lectures, driving my car, and working the computer, along with medication that helps put on weight!!!! :P :P :P :P  It has done me no favours, so here comes the new Lizzie!! 8-) 8-) 8-)

Anyone on here a gym / pool addict who has got some good tips for getting the best out of it?  ;) ;)

You will have them queuing at the door Ms Zoom, of that, I have no doubt. :-* :-* :y

Unfortunately I'm in a rather awkward part of the Kingdom at the moment otherwise......

Seriously, I found that a like-minded soul always helped alleviate the tedium of exercise which can be a rather insular pastime :( :y :y

The key is variety.  Keep mixing up the workout types and if you do any weights make sure you do it before any cardio you maximise weight loss benefit from that.

Alternate upper and lower body workouts and try to exercise 4 times a week.  If you can stretch your budget get a heart rate monitor and do 2 workouts in the fat-burning zone and 2 in the cardio zone.  Swimming is excellent but you have to work hard, if you just go up and down leisurely you get no benefit at all.

Quit drinking for 8 weeks and cut out some of your junk food but not all as a little treat every now and then helps you to stop binging like I did.

If you do that in 8 weeks you will have dropped a lot of weight and you will feel fantastic, I guarantee it  :y
