Hello everyone
« on: 03 August 2009, 23:40:23 »

Bought an '02 2.2 dti elite estate as a tug for my caravan.  I absolutely LOVE it.  Comfortable, economical (not towing) and very stable when towing.  Could do with a bit more grunt with the 'van on the back though.  A 3.2 would be the obvious answer but, alas, I do not have shares with Shell.
In answer to those who slag off caravans, I run with the herd when in traffic so not to hold anyone up and when on the open road sit at the legal maximum speed (ish).
Tip for those who MUST overtake a caravan - there is always space in front of the towing vehicle for you to cut in as the caravanner likes to brake gently so as not to smash the booze in his cocktail cabinet!

Hi Archie, and welcome to the forum.. :y
Take no notice of the comments about caravans, there is nothing wrong with them that can not be sorted with a box of Swans and a gallon of petrol.... :D :D :D

Why waste a gallon of petrol?  There is usually a 13kg bottle of propane in the front locker!  Simply open the valve, wait 15 seconds then spark the match.  We caravanners can replace the 'van but it is worth the insurance claim to get rid of another non believer!!!! :-* :-*

Cheers Vamps!  Partially converted. Get rid of the static and hit the road.  Join the club and get to a rally.  You cannot beat 30 like minded couples, one table and 30 sets of keys to choose from, but don't come (sic) in a motorhome - we hate them!

Hello and Welcome, I am also on the lookout for a 5 berth pikie wagon, why pay a hotel or get wet and cold in a tent, a caravan is much more fun. :y

Hello Archie! :y :y

I am not a caravan believer, but I can understand those that are.  Good happy caravaning to you, but just keep off the roads when I'm on them! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

The times I was held up on the M5 in the past as 'your club' travelled down along Portishead, Clevedon, to Weston!!  Then there were the many times they overturned and blocked two of the three lanes...........or on the M6 managed to block all three!!! :o :o :o :o ::) ::) ::) ::)

 ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;) ;)

No offence meant but.
Thats only because Female drivers dont think they have the confidence to tow a caravan.
( this could go the wrong way, Dont go there, bad choise)

It's not that as we are quite capable of doing so ::) ::) ::)

It is because most women want to be boarded in a nice hotel with all the luxuries and pampering, so why should they encourage their tight male partners in caravaning by towing the ruddy things??!! ::) ::) ::)
