I don't know about this site, but I used letters legally constructed from a free site over two years ago now, and after sending the three required, a dozen or more phone discussions with the Abbey's solicitor, and mounting a County Court claim against them, I received £2,000 of charges back :D :D :D

If you have excessive bank charges on your account for the last 6 years, then claim now!! :y :y :y

And this is another, which if I remember correctly, I obtained my template letters from although they have been updated since I used them to reflect the changed (to the benefit of the consumer) legal situation. :y :y :y

All the best Chris, and get those ££££'s back!! :D :D :D 8-) 8-) 8-)

You may have to wait a while with the court case on charges still ongoing though

All claims are on hold right now awaiting a ruling in whether the FSA is allowed to decide if excessive bank charges are unfair.  But get your claim in now as there is a large queue building up.

Charges for credit cards and loans are not on hold.  I got £524 off barclaycard and I am in the process of getting a lot more off some old loans I had :y

I did mine about 2 years ago, wrote to the bank first, then the Financial Ombudsman and I had a cheque shortly after. Took about 3 months in total - it was before all of this court case business started though.

A friend of mine put a claim in regards barclays as she felt they were being overcharged.  A while later she told me she got £2k back in charges from them. :y

oooh template letters, like the sound of that.

Thanks guys.

On a general note though, is it me or is this sort of mentality getting out of controle. I mean, lets charge what we want, when we want, to who over we like for the slightest indiscretion or for some vital service and wait for legislation to say we cant and in the mean time make a mint. Estate agent mentality i call it, but you get the drift. Basically taking the pi**..... Its bloody everywhere.

Should be a standard list of charges created for all banks and building societies, then it's up to us to go with the bank of our choice because of the fact we like them rather than they are the cheapest on the surface (allthough not in the long run)
