hello i am in the forces and i have stumbled across an abandoned omega near my flat, the police a willing to tow it away and scrap it but i would like to step in and take it on, problem is i have no keys and no docs etc? what can i do?

You cant just claim it as yours. Someone is legally responsible for it, whether they like it or not. ;D

As much as we love omegas on here, maybe its been abandoned for a reason.

If it is an elite, cdx or a diesel, then it could be worth something for spares.

If it is a boggo model then leave it as is.

More hassle than it's worth.

I'd advise you let them take it. Not worth the hassle.

If you step in and take it on without establishing who the owner is and coming to an arrangement with them you could be inviting some unanticipated problems.

If there is a registration plate on the vehicle or if you can see the VIN plate contact your local DVLA and present the information to them along with your proposal.  They might pass your details to the last registered owner.

Although I would think that the police or local council would be trying to do this anyway so the removal charges can be recouped.
