Jobless.had to read this twice.

The number of households in the UK with no-oneover the age of 16 working is 3.3 million.
The number of working age people in these households is 4.8 million.

So almost 20% of people of working age dont work !!!
which is why those of us who do pay so much tax.

I've always said the unemployment statistics were rubbish. Years ago, when I was out of work, the job centre used to find you a useless course to go on and, hey presto, you weren't unemplyed any more.

I remember my dad working for STEP (Special temporary emplyment programme). He did nothing and got twice his dole money, but wasn't included in the figures.

Does this include students?

At this time of year, yes.
When students are back at college in September, unemployment numbers drop, giving a false
idea that jobless totals have reduced...

The figures are an average taken over the last year,unsurprisingly they have increased dramatically since the previous year.

If you add onto those figures the children and other depandants,we must be approaching ,one half of the country working to keep the other half.
Obviously people who are genuinely too disabled to go out to work etc should be taken care off,but those who could work but dont want to.... >:( >:(

Does it include people like my old neighber that are on Incapacity Benefit.

No. It includes people unemployed and claiming benefit.

It wouldnt include oap,s as they are not of working age. :y
