WTF????
« on: 02 September 2009, 23:16:56 »

As per the title really...

What's all the locked & nuked threads for?

They haven't degenerated as such...it was obvious to the registered blind that most of them were made in jest....yet "nanny" has found it's way here  :-/ :-/

@ Ljay,

You are capable of holding a reasoned discussion (or at least, you appear to be), so what's with the nursery school insult of "dickless wonder" which was aimed at Guffer?

Are you so incensed about my "fat" joke that you now want to have a pop at any bloke who shows the slightest inkling that he finds my sense of humour to his liking?

Would it have been acceptable to yourself if I had pointed out beforehand that my old lady (90KG) had told me the joke prior to my posting it?
OK she is 6'1" tall and involved in professional sports, so she carries the 90KG off quite well...but she is still considered "fat" by todays standards...so would that have been OK if she had posted it herself?

Can I also ask why you only chose to pick certain people up on it, while leaving others who had joined in alone?

For the 3rd time, it was a joke.
Take a pill, have a spliff, whatever....there's much more important things to worry about in life other than whether a particular "group" are having the stereotypical pi$$ ripped out of them or not.

PS

@ Admin,

If this thread detracts in to personal abuse then please feel free to nuke it.
If however people can respond and keep it moderately civil, then please stop acting like Nu labia.

I personaly find him very funny
he has however a group of people on here that dont like him  and perhaps his style of writing gives them plenty room to moan complain and object to everything he writes

that said i do think he knows what buttons to push to wind the people on here up and they always bite.

So, it's been more exciting on here tonight than at the Committee meeting I've just slept sat through?  ;)

To me though that is called 'Banter' it is what helps me survive the working day, in a difficult and emotive profession, as long as it does not become personal or offensive, within reason..... :)

To try and put some historical perspective to this KW.......there didnt used to be that many arguments on the forum, but recently (mostly before you joined )there have been some quite vicious ones which have got out of hand, resulting in people leaving /rejoining etc.it got to the point on one occasion where gen.discussion was shut down, and afaik there was a discussion among the admin team wther it was actually worth the aggravation of carrying on at all.
Since then there hasnt been a lot of patience shown when things start getting argumentitive, understandably the admins are no longer prepared sometimes to spend forever deciphering the rights and wrongs of each particular argument. They have stated on many occasions that the purpose of the forum is for members to help each other, have a laugh/joke /discussion/friendly banter etc, when the playground starts getting unruly, playtime finishes early.
not pointing any fingers at anyone,I have been guilty myself in the past, spat my dummy a bit when A thread I had spent a long time typing many of my long winded posts on got nuked completely.
Just saying its easy to point out how admins should have been less "nanny like",but the fact is the alternative can sometimes take up a LOT of time. ;)

Personally i feel they seem to be baiting him into arguments, fair play that he has not risen, yet.....  although I fear the meds that are keeping him cool will one day run out  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I agree
as i said in my first post i find him to be very funny

unfortunatly  for him not everyone else does too and that may be the reason his  threads get more unwanted attention than other members do

I take everyone as they are the only thing I ask is that they take me like I am.
some people find that kw has a short fuse or an agressive way to reply to a thred, but so do a lot of people I have seen far worse at times,

There is a saying

How you call into the forrest is how you get your reply, ( the echo)

so before anything is wrote it might be better to think before they type, as what for a reaction it makes.
the admin do a great job, a little hard sometimes but still a great job.

and thats my two penneth for whome it may interest.

KW can be witty, sharp and perceptive .... unfortunately IMHO, he can also be rude, obnoxious, foul mouthed and .. to some no doubt.. down right insulting... this "mix" is almost bound to get reactions ... be they good or bad... :(

The way I see it, and many will disagree, is that too many folks react instantly and don't "think and type" ... this leads to many of the altercations that seem to arise.

My sympathys are purely with the admin/moderating staff .... they have an unenviable task and are in a lose/lose situation .. damned if they do... damned if they don't ... small wonder they get exasperated and resort to nuking threads .. just why should they spend hours filtering posts ???

The whole situation could/should be avoided if EVERYONE spent a few seconds thinking about how their posts might be recieved before hitting that last button.

6000 odd members ... we won't all agree . but we can all be civilised and nice  ... can't we ??
