First let me answer some of the questions,it is not sick pay from my employer, that stopped a few weeks ago ,it is called employment and support allowance, and i am already employed ,to which ,if i look for a job , my current employer will terminate my employment ,as i will then  be deemed fit for work ,hence looking for another job , its the worst case of catch 22 i have ever heard of , but all is not lost as i have an appointment  today with the citizens advice centre, they think that they can get my sick pay reinstated ,as i am not the only one that this has happened to ,i don't know what scares me the most ,no sick pay or, it is a common occurrence, will up date when have some news --JK

As usual, this government washes it's hands of it's own people while giving foreign immigrants (legal or otherwise) all the handouts going. >:( >:( >:(

As already said, you should look to your company for compensation as your accident was work related. If they won't do anything get a decent claims company on the case and your company will be sh1tting themselves.

Good luck there today JK. :y
As I had my accident I was on the sick for 3 months and now I'm still out of work getting jsa. my wife does not get a penny from anywhere. she was told today at the jobcentre if she got a job so14 hours a week that she would be able to keep £10 and the rest what she earned would be taken from my jsa.
so in other words she would be going to work for less than nothing and we would be worse off.

Hang on a sec ......

The missus, a Yank, pays full NI and Income tax, has had to pay for a spouse visa twice because some twit in the UKBA decided not to stamp her first visa when she first entered the UK (£600 a pop) in the next 2 years we will have to fork out £1000 for indefinite leave to remain.

All the while she does not have any recourse to public funds, so pays full whack to a state that wont support her if she loses her job, wont give her family benefit if we have a kid, and has to pay full US health insurance to cover her while she is flying back and fourth to the States.

You call that fair?

Not all foreigners are on the benefit gravy train many work their balls off in jobs you and I would not like to do.  I hate scroungers of all types less those in legitimate need of help whether they be Polish, Iraqi or British.

Lets not forget what job I do and how worthless this government makes myself and other colleagues and I wonder why I give up so much of my liberties for my spouse to treated like sh!t.  >:(

If you have run out of sick pay then you should be entitled to Incapacity benefit. Its not a great deal but something is better than nothing! :y

Thats what I thought mate. But as JK said I have seen the letter that they sent him and as he is still employed by them is not entitled to any other benefits, the letter came from the job centre.

Don't get me wrong, but I am in the same boat. Need to pay for everything (and will not get anything back from the goverment) and then pay over the odds to private landlord. Now, I am not complaning as I knew this was the case right from the start - it hurts when everyone is classified as Immigrant and assumed to benefit from the system

To be fair there are a lot of people out there that do work and do pay into the national insurance , i have no quibbles with these people at all ,nothing ,absolutely no problem , i hope that i have made myself very clear on this , i however have paid my national insurance for over 30 years , that's 30 years , and i am entitled to nothing , that is what i am complaining about , as for the gentleman whose wife is working and is not entitled to anything i do feel sorry for her and as i said i have not got a problem with her , and i think if you pay in you should be entitled to full benefits, because if they are willing to take your money then they should be made by law to help you if your plight is a genuine case , hope that this cleared some of the fog away from the reason that i posted in the first place , it was not to pick on anyone who pays into the system, but those who have never worked and have a new car every 3 years and have paid nothing into the system, especially the £400.00 for an interpreter ,free rent, and full benefits, for someone who has never even set foot in this country let alone worked a single day,it boils my pi**---JK >:( >:( >:(

Just had some disturbing news , if i put a claim in against my company, then out of the moneys that i win [if i do win] ,get this ,the government then take back all the sick pay they have given you while you were on the sick, in other words if you win your claim you loose all the money the government has paid you , they have then paid you nothing at all , what a system , its a joke,i need more than a coffee, just can't afford it lol

Sorry guys, didn't mean to broad-brush. :-[ I was trying to make a point that I see so many (mainly) Eastern Europeans being let in and given all sorts of benefits that our own people have to fight for and usually not get. As an example, when you read in the papers that hoards of Romanian gypsy's are queuing up to get into UK in order to get our benefits and free NHS etc. it just makes my blood boil.

gypsys----gypsys--- right no more lucky heather or pegs for me,the way things are going i think it won't belong before the government bring back the window tax, as it was introduced in the late 1600s -1696 i think , about the same time as the poll tax, and they stung us with that one as well, it would be another way of generating money for nothing, or we could bail out norther rock again as they have only made a little loss of our moneys again, but whatever happens they must not help the common working man, i think im going to vomit , this post has shown me just how strong people feel about the situation the country is in and yet no one seems to be looking at the bigger picture they seem to be biting the hand that feeds them, strange but true---JK

What can i say to that,£400.00 for a translater, that would pay my sick pay for 5 weeks , you don't know how mad i am at reading this---JK, forgot to add ,i can't get help with the rent either >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(
It wont help but might give some light relief and restore your faith a little - in the recent Euro elections an English Democrat was elected in Doncaster ( IIRC ).I think he might be the new mayor or something, any way, part of his manifesto is to stop paying for translation services and printing council documents in 12 different languages. He has been immediately branded a racist of course. When you listen to his explanation it makes very good sense, " there are  people in this town who have lived here for over 30 years and cannot or will not speak English, they are putting themselves at an enormous disadvantage in both the employment market and in everyday life. This council spends in excess of 1.6 million pounds a year on translation, money which could be better used elsewhere, in future if English is not a persons first language then they will have to bring someone along who can translate for them, perhaps a family member or friend".
This is not racism, its common sense, lets hope he gets his way.
