What a s**t day
« on: 05 September 2009, 08:48:36 »

I was going to be staying up near Duxford for the weekend with my caravan and going to the airshow today but yesterday at about 5pm in the road works on the M25 between J16 and J17 a Cavalier had died so once i had got past it put my foot down to get up the hill and guess what the bottom end of my DTI omega engine let go and the car died. Got back home about 2 am this morning with the help of the AA and i'm now back on the M4 in my new 3.0 (thanks Joff) with my other half at the wheel heading back to the airshow. Sorry to any member who got held on the M25 yesterday :-[

Sorry to hear of your bad news mate, and glad you are back on the road, albeit not in the vehicle intended.......

Went to MAKS Airshow in Russia 2 weeks ago and if Duxford is as good as that was you are in for a treat.......!!

Weather looking great here in Nottingham this morning so hope it stays nice for you down there.

Thanks guys :) well the show was great and the 3.0 made short work of the 420 mile round trip so all was not lost but started to dig in to my diesel today and it looks like the crank snapped and in turn took my turbo out >:( so now off to buy a 2.2 DTI GLS and have it's engine and turbo and with abit of luck should be back on the road by the end of the week

Update:

Just heard from HN03 ..... went up to Nottingham ( I think) to collect this DTi GLS last night.

Driving carefully back down the M-way and the car died on him!  Lost all compression.

So -- after the 2nd AA recovery in three days I reckon he's had his money's worth !

Plan is now to see if the top end of one engine can be mated to the bottom of t'other..... fingers and toes crossed.

So ... as well as the MV6 being broken, I imagine there will be a 2.2 DTi  GLS following on too  ::)

His brother was in the cars on both breakdowns, so it's HIS fault !!!!
