Fly now while you can still afford it

This is, indeed, barking mad.

"Tens of billions of pounds will have to be raised through flight taxes to compensate developing countries for the damage air travel does to the environment, according to the Government’s advisory body on climate change."

One of the comments below (from "TonyB") captures the government's policies very well:

Just been on the news that we(households and businesses) will have to cut our emissions by 90% ;D ;D by 2050 to allow airports to expand in line with government wishes.

I love it. The world really has gone bonkers. ;D

I'm off to burn all my rubbish in the garden. ::)

I doubt few will Nick - until it's too late.

Many would be very surprised to learn that this might well be given serious consideration :( :(

Interesting site Nick :y

We have walked doe-eyed into this potential scenario by allowing Westminster to be pushed around by groups with a misguided and in some cases sinister policy involving environmental matters.

We will face difficulty and by that stage, the prospect of having stable energy supplies will be a very, very distant dream.

It only seems that the UK is taking this seriously. If you go to the US for example, all office lights and computers are left on all day and night, you get big trucks releasing pollution into the atmosphere with no care. (It's not much different here). On the scale of things, the collosal effort that the UK makes just seems to be marignal.  :(

you're right - go to the US and you see that no matter what we do - we're screwed - the US couldn't give a monkeys about the environment - outside of a few hippies in LaLa Land

honestly - us recycling our plastic is laughable  ;D :y

Well it will certainly be a shock to the locals here, driving around in their Landcruisers and £60,000 cars without having to do a days work in their lives.  :-?
