OK, do that, maybe on an old pinto.
Definatley NOT a quad cam V6. :o

Good job not replacing the most well documented failure items.

There is too much of a lip on the tensioner / idlers for it to work -

Aside of the fact it means the idlers wouldn't have been changed...

I would think so....  ;D

That said, seen it done where a belt was sliced in half with a sharp stanley blade with the engine running then the replacement belt slipped into place the the original half old belt cut off before the new belt is slipped fully home.

I sincerely hope no one on here would even think of trying the same with any car they would hope to keep in fair condition for any length of time without getting anunwarranted engine rebuild!   ;D

My MV6 had its timing belt replaced by a garage in Exeter Garage in 2004 at 77k they changed the belt only

The next recipt in the cars history portfolio is a Tow truck recipt off a garage in london for recovery off the M25 and tow back to Newton Abbot

The Recipt after that is for £4,400 for a Crate 3.0V6 Ecotec engine & fitment off Inchape vauxhall of exeter the mileage at this point is 85k Inchapes diagnosis was previous garage never replaced tensioner leading to tensioner failure the exeter garage had to foot the whole bill  ;D ;D ;D ;D

I take out the dip stick and put a long plastic pipe over the dipstick hole pipe thingy, and suck.  Horrible if you get a mouthful though :D :D :D

Tensioner goes rather than the belt.

Kit is under £100, borrow a locking kit - there you go

Mine is timed pretty well - better than the local mechanic near work would do using the markers on the backing plate
