Poppies banned - makes me so angry!
« on: 04 November 2009, 23:00:03 »

I don't post many angry posts on here, but this subject really gets to me. A story on the BBC web site tells of a Lancashire shop chain 'Body care', who banned all staff from wearing poppies as its policy is "In a statement, the company said that its staff were banned from wearing all badges which could portray personal beliefs to avoid offending other staff or customers." They wouldn't even be trading if it wasn't for the brave men & women who died for our freedom.

Our local Aldi refuses to let British legion sell poppies, and Aldi have form for this in previous years. I refuse to shop at Aldi, ever, and encourage everyone I meet to do the same if they mention Aldi.

The other day there was a story of an Asda checkout worker, who happened to be Muslim, who refused to serve a woman because she was wearing a 'support our troops' wrist band. His supervisor backed him!

Is it just me, or do others agree that this is repulsive?

FFS!...

This really grips my ....

I will be reading the post Entwood made a week or so ago about the average British soldier (assuming I can get through it without shedding a tear!) at the Dinner Dance I'm hosting this Saturday, the proceeds of which will be shared between Help for Heroes and the charitable association hosting the event.

I have a lot of friends who serve this country and have, so far, been very lucky that they have all come home but I know the day may well come when one of them doesn't.

I have also set up the Sky+ to record the Festival of Remembrance on Saturday night because I watch it every year

The problem is that the righteous 'PC Brigade' have created a situation whereby people are made to feel they are social pariahs if they say anything thats not 'on message' with the PC culture. But reality is millions died in the two world wars, and whilst the motivation for some wars may be doubtful, the men and women on the field had no choice, they had to fight and be killed, or refuse to fight and be shot. We MUST remember their sacrifice with pride.
