Now getting round to fixing the wifes Safrane.....instead of fixing it we bought a new car and its been stored in the garage for 6 weeks. When it failed i was told it required brakes all round / two front tyres and have a gaitor loose OR broken on steering rack.

We decided to buy instead a new car of getting it fixed due to the urgency ( was christmas eve) and the fact it may require an expensive new steering rack was gonna hold things up

Anyway.....just looked at the fail slip and I quote

"005 parking brake efficiency below requirements (3.7.a.9/10) "

and elsewhere on the failure slip it says

"Measurments - Brake Failures  : RBT Park Brake Effieiency : 15%"

So reading between the lines it DOESNT need brakes ( as in discs and pads) it needs handbrake adjusted / shoes etc.

Now i thought the rate had to be 16% so am i right in assuming this is a "just failed" item?

Didn't the garage say, sort of..."Mr Markie, this will take 30 mins to fix and will cost £40"?  :-?

Nah it was a mate MECHANIC that did it through his mate the MOT'er ( legally of course)

And i got the verbal reasons for failure via my wife....so the best info i have to go on is the failure slip. I mean i wouldnt trust my wife if she told me her car had a tyre at every corner !!!

She did get a newer easier to run Veccy 2.0 sri so saves me longer term earache

Minimum is 16% as I recall.  Seems it was a 'just' fail and probably could have been a 10 minute bodge to adjust at the wheels, perhaps, rather than the proper strip clean and replace/rebuild....

Thanks Broocie - just what i though...so this may be an easy fix and mot now i have the time.
