Depreciation. Ouch!
« on: 26 November 2009, 21:14:53 »

Even the cheapest model of these was over £36000. Who can possibly afford to lose more than half of that in two years?

I got my old man to look at one of those about 6 months back, second hand of course. Amazing motor, but they couldn't fit a towbar so it was a no go. Pity cause he really liked both the car and the fact noone else had one.

That is more than £1 per mile in depreciation alone.

If you are considering buying it I would get your own HPI check aswell.

Honda's are reasonably popular over here. Damn reliable and hold their value quite well. You can get a lifetime warranty on the gearbox and engine. Japense cars crumble upon impact though. :'(

they are falling in value fast, is it just me or do they look very Omega like from the front? (facelift anyway) similar style of bonnet to lights, i like the inside too  :-[

Some better interior shots here:

When that shape is sub £5k they could be a very interesting replacement for the Omega......

I lost £10K back in 1997 on a 9 month old 200SX Turbo, although they do say that you lose one third of the retail the minute your name goes on the V5.

It's also quite common for folk who can afford a car with a price tag around the £30K (or more) mark to not really care about the depreciation anyway.

I bought a brand new Renault clit a few years back off Jamjar.com and sold it 18 months later for just under what we paid for it  :)

Not just you Tunnie, it looks very similar in a lot of subtle ways, including the interior, although obviously in an updated way ;D. Maybe one of the Honda design team is a closet Omega fan? ;D ;D :y

Fully agree, 4-5 years time and an LPG conversion and that would be a cracking car. 24mpg though from them.

There weren't that many imported IIRC. It's quite an excusive car. I've seen a couple in the flesh, I'm afraid they dont look that impressive.
There'd be no 'tinkering' with one of those either.

I remember when I bought my old legend. It was 13 years old yet, you could stand right next to it, and you'd be hard pushed to hear whether the engine was running or not. Beautiful piece of engineering.

I've driven one, and I must say the interior is very nice, it had plenty of interesting gadgets. But it wasn't very interesting to drive, and was easily forgotten until now. The 3.5 V6 (I seem to recall that was the engine, although I may be mistaken) is nice, but again nothing that special.

Yes, but you've probably got all the gizmos to play with electronic components. Dont think that many have. I, like lots of others I suspect, used to take stuff to pieces just to.........put it back together again :D
I wouldn't know what half of it was, never mind how to 'tinker' with it.
