Ginsters is another make, but not sure if they do pies, quite a few pasties in thier range.

Hollands pies? never heard of them until now! , maybe they just don't sell them in newcastle?

It's not that many years ago that you could only buy them in the local area, and only in the chippy. You now get them in packs at Tesco/etc, I've even seen them in a chippy in Devon .... or Cornwall ...... down that way somewhere  ;)  ;)  :y

Just got back from the boozer and have to admit it was a pukka pie i made, still think Hollands is the way forward though must be a northern thing. Can get either in the supermarkets up here but no pukkas in the chippy :y

In fact, I am wondering who makes them, wondering if it's the company I used to work for.

They were a cannery with an open pack division, pies, pork pies beef paste and pate etc, plus chicken, beef and prok roll.  Over the years they dumped the cannery, and it seems the open pack is now finished as well, they are at least this area's biggest sandwich suppliers, probably make thier own bread and procces all the fillings etc, just adding salad and packing.  Heard they were churning out a million sarnis a day, if they still have the bakey then they may well be producing pasty's and even possibly pastries for the forecourts.

Edit :- two million sandwiches are spread, filled, cut and boxed every week, 365 days a year, day and night  (still a lot)  :P

I know its hard to believe due to the size of my girth ::) but I don't like pies but have been known to eat a steak and kidney pud now and again :)

Talking of pies, I used to eat loads of the fray bantos pies.  But had to practice a few times to get the pastry to rise perfectly.

I had a pukka "all steak" pie with chips for tea tonight. Plenty of filling, but thought the steak was a bit tough. Never heard of Hollands pies.
Love the cheese and onion pasties and the steak bakes from greggs the bakers. Not sure if they are nationwide or just in Scotland.
