I appreciate your position, and will endeavour to follow your advice H21, but if folks cant take a joke I really do think they are very much in the wrong place.It has always been a refuge from the world of PC and the like here and I hope that isnt going to change.As you probably know I (and several others) am from the Emerald Isle and have seen many "iIrish jokes" posted, if they are funny I laugh at them, and you may have a similar outlook with "jock jokes",If no offence is intended then none should be taken imo, life is too short to take it too seriously. 
Agree, virtually entirely. However, one persons joke is anothers insult.
As you say, it makes no odds whether you are Irish, Scots, Liverpudlian, red haired or overly short/fat or whatever, if offence is taken in what is otherwise construed as light hearted banter then thats that. I and others have thick skins, some others less so.
All thats asked is a wee bit of respect and no out and out name calling or the over use of degrading comments....
