Plug wells filling with water
« on: 30 January 2010, 16:13:24 »

I keep getting the plug wells filling up with water on the passenger side of my 1999 2.5

Removed the scuttle and the sponge underneath is starting to disintigrate - no longer available from Vx. Despite trying to repair it and then putting sealant around the wipers (as suggested in another post), but I still get water coming through.

My next idea is to put something underneath to try and deflect the water away from the plugs and dis pack.

Any suggestions?

When you refit the skuttle run a bead of silicone down the seam where the 2 halves meet ;)

Very carefully put silicon sealant underneath the central part of the scuttle... can't see it, but could feel a gap between the padding and the bottom of the scuttle and the rubber seal. Seems to have worked, took ages to find  :y
