If he's currently fully comp on his car, he's covered 3rd party on another car as long as he doesn't own it, I THINK! No insurance is a big no and the police don't listen to excuses. I was done for no insurance, as i didn't know my direct debit bounced, years ago, they impounded my car (expensive!) and i got points and a hefty fine!

Anpr  in plod car will flash up "uninsured" - car will be seized.
Dayinsure - less than £15 for the day. ;)

askmid.com is how i check if a car is insured. I check my own once a week after my troubles!
