Advice on VAT needed
« on: 12 February 2010, 10:56:01 »

Ok this may sound like a cheap question but I need to know.
When I buy something on UK ebay and the sellers or stores are in UK do I have any right on return of the VAT because it is being shipped to my country?

I'm getting a bit sick of paying VAT then again paying customs fees and my domestic tax called PDV ( our VAT)

Any advice is helpfull.
Thanks

I don't think that the seller should be charging VAT if its an oversea invoice.

Yes my country is still outside Euro zone.
So I guess I should ask seller to remove the VAT from the invoice before buying?

You should request they do...until mid this year...if Croatia get accpeted to the EU...then you shoudl not get charged local and import duty

Bear in mind, particularly with egay, some 'companies' might not be VAT registered, so you may not necessarily be able to get it knocked off anyway.

Additionally, some companies may not be geared up not to charge VAT even if they are VAT registered.

Ask the Qs before buying, and make your choice when you get an answer
