Driving instruction now has become more about teaching the test routes, rather than teaching how to read the roads.
There is a very good reason as to why the majority of drivers killed on the roads are young, they are taught to drive in a nice quiet generally small (1.0 - 1.5) car. They go out buy their cars and go tearing off out with their mates, driving roads that they have never driven along, with distractions of their music blaring out so loud the car vibrates, and "friends" messing about at all times of day and night.... Then they wonder why they hit whatever "jumped out" at them.

The other type of person who is the accident causer, the I am in too much of a rush to drive with consideration of other road users... Who by definition drive with their foot hard to the floor, overtake to gain 20 feet in a stream of heavy traffic, generally the tailgaters (which imho is far more dangerous than speeding)....
