Guys migweb is just as good a site here, i'm on both and use both for different things. started off on migweb but came here to get the best help with the omega as you guys are likely to have more experience with them.

Not helping them but it is worthwhile becoming a member of migweb as they are a vboa club so their membership card gives you trade prices at any vauxhall dealer plus you get discounts with many more places such as demon tweaks, chris astley, and the likes of opie oils that you get a discount with.

The site is quite a good community due to the separate regions for parts of the country or abroad, which is why i think they are pushing it more as they have updated and expanded the whole site.

If you don't like the forum skin you can change it, there is over 5 different variants iirc, as I don't like the skin you guys will see, i use a variant that is more like this forum.

The main thing that migweb is good for is parts as there is hundreds of new posts a day in the for sale section, which gives you a great choice.

And believe me I don't work for them and im not making commision on new members  ;D but its not fair to slag off a site which does a lot to help the vauxhall community and is very good for tech help and the build threads are really interesting you should have a look at a few  ;)
Thats as maybe, its the fact that our e-mail addressess have been lifted some how thats whats peeing us off.  :(

With the unethical methods they appear to be using, you can bet your backside I will *NEVER* join them  >:(, or even recommend them  >:(

Well out of order imho.

To be completely fair, where are your e-mail addresses to be lifted? They are not on your profile. I have no clue how they are doing it or why they are doing it, but if you put your e-mail address on a website it is open to public abuse doesn't matter who uses it. Thats why if you don't want to receive spam e-mails, which these might be you should make sure your profile is set to private.

Thats the problem I didn't and I don't think the others he did either :-[
Bit of a coincidence though, that its main theme is Migs and a few of us here on the forum have been contacted. :-/

Morning

Some may recognise the name.

I am concerned that some of you seem to have been spammed by our emails over the weekend.

I know I sent two of the emails, but only to the email addresses registered to account within MIG.

I am not here to argue over what may or may not have happened, but if those who think they have been sent emails when they have not registered on MIG please email me at tom@migweb.co.uk and I can look into whether your email address is attached to an account on MIG.

We do not actively look at contacting members of other sites and I do not want internet rifts between sites.

I look forward to hearing from anyone who received any of our emails in error, and clearing up any confusion.

Tom
I have received two e-mails on Saturday 6/3 one at 13.19 pm and the other at 21.48 pm. Are these the 2 e-mails you're fering to?
I must say I have nothing against MIGWEB nor that I was contacted by your site, my main worry was if my e-mail address was gleened from this site.
It obviously was, as I did not hide my e-mail address, which was my own fault !!!!!

Hi All

Yes we sent 2 emails to all Registered Users, Club Members and all staff on Saturday regarding International Members, and Whats It Worth, and one on Sunday to the same group regarding Classifieds.

I have been contacted by Turk, and it turns out he has registered on MIG over 2 years ago but due to him being part of the Registered users group he received these emails.

I can confirm that we send these using our forum software, this can only access the emails used to register accounts on MIG therefore if you have ever registered to use MIG you will continue to receive these.

I trust this puts everyone at ease over our email structure.

If anyone has any queries then please use my email address above.

Peace amongst forums!!

:-? That's news to me !!  Please PM my login details.  Until I received the e-mails the other day I'd never even heard of Migweb.
Why would one of the e-mails address me by the username I only use on a Harley-Davidson forum ?

I've been trying to log on to this Migweb I've apparently been a member of for over two years.

I've tried the username they addressed me by in one of the e-mails, along with any passwords I may have used and all have failed.

Also tried to use the "request user name and password" option but the address they used to send me the e-mails is not recognised as a registered address.

:-?

No worries matey, only tried usernames I may have contemplated using on a site like that.
The e-mails were to my works address, so I used that...but wasn't a recognised address. :-/
I'm on two forums, the OOF and a Harley forum.

As Tom says, MIGWeb only sends emails out to people who have registered on MIGWeb and have opted to "receive emails from admin".  We have never actively seeked out email addresses to randomly email, we have over 50,000 registered users, so plenty of people to email already.

The amount of times I've tried to register on a forum only to find I'm already registered is amazing. I takes seconds to register, then only a few days to forget all about it.

If you don't want to receive emails from MIGWeb, please ensure you login and deselect "Receive emails from admin" in your user control panel.

If you do not remember your password, please go to this page:
http://www.migweb.co.uk/forums/login.php?do=lostpw

You username will have been in the email you received from MIGWeb.

Many thanks

Mike

Thank you for the clarification :y

Presumably, if any member here believes they were not migweb members, but received the email, they can PM you to try to ascertain how/why/when their details got onto your membership database?
