Its the dreaded MOT today.
« on: 10 March 2010, 11:34:29 »

well its that time of year again where i bite my nails down to my knuckles :-/, the way my car has bitten me back in the last 12 months what with the g/box blowing up,the chewed up torque converter, the no4 injector gushing diesel & the fuel lines springing a leak due to rusty pipes, is she going to have yet another surprise in store?, ive rebuilt the n/side headlight & made an adjuster up so thatll need aligning no doubt, ive treated her to a full set of osram nightbreakers while i was at it, oh well at 1-30 i will find out the outcome, anybody got a spare rabbits foot :D :D

Good luck; mine passed last Friday with only a couple of advisories. It needed some headlight adjustment though.

To do: Replace brake discs and pads; adjust already replaced shoes; check for leaks in oil cooler, cambelt area, crank seals, sump, dipstick; replace osf door; replace a tyre; clean, MOT.

YEEHAAAA!, it actually passed :D, got some advisories though, flexible brake pipes near axle & a clip needed to hold front brake pipe into bracket by suspension leg, oh & for some reason my drivers side headlight isnt giving the correct pattern, it was o,k last year & all ive done is changed the bulb, he checked it & the bulb was in o,k so its a bit of an oddball unless anybody has a suggestion?, he also mentioned about a TD for spares with a broken cam he knows of so awaiting a phone call on that, so all in all one of my better days ;D ;D

I think these clips are used variously across the Vx range, and the local stealer had plenty in stock amazingly. :y

put mine on the ramp on monday morning a couple of hours before the mot  :y

found loads of things that I WOULD change  :(

wishbones
rear shocks
idler

banged it in for the mot and the only thing it failed on was
track rod end
curly brake pipe to the rear caliper
dodgy handbrake  ( 6% eficiency )   ;) :-[   good job i always leave it in gear  ;D ;D ;D

happy man  :y ;D ;D

even said that the emisions was probably the best they had seen on a 2.5 of that mileage ( 120,000 )

told them that the thing had just been rebuilt by darth dark helmet  ;D ;D ;D

they didn't understand  :D :D

Glad the old bus got through but you're still a jonah son. for those not in the know he popped into my caravan for a brew at the last Yorkmeet, sat down & made himself comfy when the cd player fell apart & the genny ran out of fuel!!!
Next time stay away from the van & i'll bring your tea out. ::)
