CD Printers
« on: 17 March 2010, 16:04:45 »

Just ordered some ink for my R300 epson printer, stil has it's original certridges in but they have dried up as it has not been used for a couple of years or more.

Anyway, just in case the printer in fubar I had a look round for a replacement, they dont seem to mention CD printing in thier sites anymore you had to check carefully and found the R800, nice orinter, list price £299, £261 on ebuyer, No a cheap printer, so looked on Ebauyer for ink, notihing at all.  But found some on ebay.

Boght an LG a couple of years ago, utter shite.  and the DVD drive itself has since packed up.

But decided to give it another try and this time bought a sony lightscribe (was cheaper than the pioneer DVD/R that I wanted and also out of stock)  downside is I have no idea where my Lightscribe software ended up.

I needed to purchase ink this week, to print a pic of a shunter my late brother bought and Colour ran out, so went to Tesco and got Tesco compatiable, seems ok, but been told it may block the jets. Will have to wait and see.
Lexmark 33 £27.99
Tesco £13.49
You just gotta decide.

Sadly Lexmark printers I dont have time for.

I tend to stick with Epson for inkjets and HP for laser printers, allthouth I cant fault my Xerox laser.

Also just been looking at the colour lasers, for the price I might have to try one, depending on the ammount it prints depends whether I get another afterwards, as the toner cartridge on the cheap lasers tend to cost more than the orinal printer.

Pro-Jet work fine for my R340 - I used to get them at computer fairs, but I got the last lot from car boot sale.

Get a CIS for it, it'll be the same one as the one on my R200 and it's lasted me 4 years without any problems.

But I think I need to get the printer working 1st,

I use a CIS on an Epson R300 and it does a decent enough job. Nozzles need an unblock before printing photos, etc. but then they always did with genuine ink too. I'm on my second load of ink in about 3-4 years IIRC.

Every so often it bleats about cartridges expired. Power cycle the printer and they're back to 100%. ;D

I had the stylus 880 before the R300, when it was low on ink it would stop printing as the ink monitor would tell the printer they were empty.  I just took out the cartridges and put them back in to confuse the monitor into thinking they were brand new and 100% fullm they would then print out for ages.
