Allready had some recycling material through the letterbox this morning!

What made me smile was our local Tory candidate, she has a hyphenated surname and amazingly (apparently?) lives in one of the seediest parts of Cardiff (Riverside).
So the double Barreled name should appeal to the Sainsburys and M&S lot and her Abode should win her a few 'browny' points with the Aldi's and Farmfoods dependants! ::)

Our Plaid Cymru Candidate is,er,well he's like- Asian!

I give up!

voted...........you could probably guess who for..........actually maybe not - i'm genuinely torn between 3 parties so, to my local candidates I say - make your bribes to me in a sealed envelope to the usual address, you money grabbing charlatans  :y

as for the general election I reckon (as i said months ago) we're heading for a hung parliament so we'll do it all again in a few months  :o

DC is really annoying me already tho - rolling up his sleeves, ditching the tie and looking all "earnest" and "ready to work"  >:(

GB made a truly terrible speech  :-/

didn't see whats-his-face Clegg all day, but I was busy  ::)

I agree that this DC "image" of no tie, no jacket and sleeves rolled up, is annoying - just TOO Blairite for me. Brown's an absolute ogre, but not as funny as Shrek, and I don't know who Clegg is - wasn't he in Last of the Summer Wine?

Odd thing is, Banjax, I really can't guess who you voted for. :o I would have thought SNP, but no. Come on, 'fess up and let's talk about policies.  :y

contrary to popular opinion, I don't necessarily vote Labour  :o
I've voted for SNP and we got devolution, they've done a decent job of government so far but from up here the issues are a bit filtered, for example when Brown,Cameron or Clegg talk about the NHS or Transport they're not talking UK wide so it can be irrelevant. SNP are staunchly(blindly?see later) fighting any cuts whatsoever to Scotland. In England you're voting to get rid of a Labour Government we got shot of 3 years ago so it'll be a completely different campaign, Labour and SNP fighting tooth and nail, the tories and LibDems are almost an irrelevance up here I'm afraid (regularly polling 20% lower than UK as a whole!!) so our perspectives will be different. What may surprise you Nick, because I doubt it would get much interest south of the border Labours vote has actually increased up here and they're in all likelihood will gain seats come the election which would be problematic in Westminster as this would concentrate the representation of scottish labour mps (assuming they don't gain any seats in England of course  ;D) which would ironically give scotland even more power running the UK whereas if you went down the full independence route (which labour, tories and libdems don't want to break up) we'd be free to sort out our affairs with westminster free to handle its affairs without any jocks spoiling the party  ;D :y
i wouldn't have thought most people in england would want scotland to increase in political power but there you have it.
i may vote SNP until we get the referendum on full independence (with United Kingdom still in place as the Queen would still be head of state) - i find it bizarre that we can vote for westminster mps and you have no say in holyrood so Independence makes sense to all parties.

having said all that, this election, i don't have the luxury of voting what i wish for, you've got to look at the bigger picture in this economic storm so i'd feel more comfortable with Vince "Stable" Cable or Brown/Darling at the helm (altho Salmond was head of Bank of Scotland for long enough, but we've enjoyed a huge amount of public spending up here - the last 3 years theres been no cuts in public spending, increased spending on Health and the police, got rid of student fees and bridge tolls and brought in free care for pensioners - all very laudable socialist programmes but christ are we going to pay for it!! (although i've no idea how) unfortunately the credit crunch has left the SNP's "drunken sailor" spending policies looking a tad unfortunate now and many are turning to the safety of Labour, whatever you think of GB, up here he's seen as a safe pair of hands economically. Independence can wait (its been 300 years, another few won't matter)

So, Labour or LibDem then - at the moment I genuinely have no idea - but i've just worked out it won't be SNP - so down to 2 now  :y

mmmm, voting for DLK to be a part of Admin may have been feasable till his last dress up session.

Lizzie is not on the list.

Heard a mention of the welsh.  So if I could have my vote for someone that lives in wales that I would trust on the OOF then I would vote for Debs.

As for the rest in the list...........NO Comment. :-X

Thanks Skruntie, but yes I am .................................as a CONSERVATIVE!! 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) ;) ;)

For me, that statement says a lot. ::) ::) ::) ::) ::)

Sadly, none of it is repeatable.  ;)

He's a Fifer - and they're tight, even by Scottish standards  ;D ;D

i reckon it's really just england that he's blamed for the financial mess we're in, elsewhere in the world (including Scotland) he's mainly seen as the man with the plan - the guy with the balls and intelligence to sort the mess out - very different viewpoints i agree  :o

still, anyone but Gideon O  8-)

Only in Britain......do we use the word "politics" to describe the process so well.
"Poli" in Latin meaning "many" and "tics" meaning "bloodsucking creatures".

Statesmen tell you what is true even though it may be unpopular. Politicians will tell you what is popular, even though it may be untrue.

Political T.V. commercials prove one thing: some candidates can tell all their good points and qualifications in just 30 seconds.

During Britain's "brain drain," not a single politician left the country.

Nobody can fix the economy.
Nobody can be trusted with their finger on the button.
Nobody's perfect.
Vote for Nobody.

Well, it looks like OOF isnt very representative of the country in general (or maybe the other polls are a fix) ::)...but the Tories have a landlslide here.
The real election is looking like a hung parliament as the most likely outcome ( the worst scenario imo) which probably means Gormless is history. Cleggy says that Brown has to go whatever happens so if he holds the balance of power :o - no more Gormless. :y, as long as Clegg is a man of his word. :-/ ::)
I would imagine that in that scenario Gormless would offer Darling as a sacrificial lamb, and offer to install Vince Cable as chancellor :o...providing Cleggy lets him stay as PM.
Dont you just love democracy ? ::)
