Can I have some sympathy please???

Moved house day before yesterday.....No BT line, therefore no phone or internet, gas cooker hasn't arrived yet (supposed to be here friday) so no food unless its microwaveable, no plumbing for washing machine yet, all the cental heating is u/s cos programmers foobared, so no hot water, and to top it all,  can't find mobile phone charger, so when its flat, i'm off the air with my blackberry too......

Life is a constant stress at the moment.

Just helped my son to move this weekend and I am totally exhausted and we were very organised.

The people moving out had parrots, reptiles, dogs, rabbits and the house reeked - carpet cleaners were in as soon as keys available and team of friends, parents etc to decorate all main rooms and hall stairs landing in 2 days. Lots of bodged jobs to tidy up.

Outside were hutches and aviary with all manner of shit to be cleaned - hours with jet wash.

All things considered it worked well but would not want to take this on now at my age without a load of back up.

i was terrified when i moved house, as it was my first house, january 09

quite a big house but an empty shell with a functional but disgraceful bathroom (but clean) and no kitchen so to speak apart from some units, had to get wiring for the cooker put in and fresh appliances right through

i had one weekend to actually get moved into it, and i couldnt get time off work either, but with the help of my mum's internet and a large wad of my savings, managed to pull it all together and although it feels like we've not achieved much, i had a look back over the photos of the day we looked round the house before buying, to the ones i took last week and its unreal the progress we've made

i wouldnt do it again though!!

Went though in all less than a year ago.

In fact, this time last year my kitchen was a bare shell waiting for all the wiring and a full replaster to be done.

Lots still to be sorted as I took ill as I moved in, but hopefully will never move again.

Have moved previously quite a lot due to jobs, women, etc. but this has been the worst, with everything that could go wrong going wrong.At the moment have no cooker, internet, hot water, heating, curtains, washing machine, dishwasher or telephone.
Good points....we have beds, carpets, fridge freezer, garage, and water/electricity.
Roll on the weekend.............

I also walked into to a £1500 court demand from Eon and bailiffs letters.

Poor old lady that owned the place before me had moved into a home, so they pursued me for the estimated debt, still argueing with them over the billing to this day as they have still not read the meter (Officially) in what now seems like the last 4 years.

I normally do all the moving myself but the last time nearly killed me ..... so if there is a next time im sitting back and letting a firm do it no matter what the cost

In 1974, my wife and I moved from London to Amsterdam.  We put the suitcases and the record player in the boot of my Jaguar S-Type and drove to the boat.  Wasn't difficult.

In 1994, my wife, my three kids and myself moved from the Leiden area to the Ipswich area.  This was a bit more complicated...

I moved a few years ago and got a mate to help me, not the smartest move I made as it didnt do my health any favours even then (About 15 years ago)  I then moved 2 years later to my last house and got a removel firm in, £20 +vat PH x 8hours.

5 times the amount to stuff to move last year, and removel companies charging upwards of £40+vat PH, I decided to hire a van and take up offers of help from my mates.

All I will say is that in hind dight I should have paid the £40 PH, with schools holidays, bank holidays and other things we had the van for 3 weeks, and allthough I dont begrudge what it cost, there were a hell of a lot of meals bought at McD

I go through it every 2 years (sometimes less) maybe because I move more often I find it easier?  :-/
