Laptop wiping prob
« on: 17 July 2010, 17:02:00 »

Righto people, when my old employer went bust I was allowed to keep the laptop I had but never bothered with it till now...problem is I only have a user account and it has Citrix on so I cant activate the wireless receiver or change anything at all on the bugger.

A friend has had a look at it and doesn't think it can be wiped due to the security on it and the lack of an administrator password and it certainly won't boot from a cd to install xp or summat.

So basically, I appear to be buggered unless someone here is a genius. Having read this back it sounds a bit dodgy but it is genuine!

Will it let you into the bios to have a fiddle about or is that locked too?

Take the drive out, fit it into an external enclosure or use a USB to esata/IDE with power device from ebay. Format the drive. Refit and install OS & drivers. If the BIOS has been tinkered with and locked by corporate security you may be stuffed at that stage though....unless it can be identified and flashed back to its natural state.

Good luck!
