How dangerous a car can be (Be Warned)
« on: 16 July 2010, 15:42:43 »

This video / film made me think just HOW dangerous a car can be.

Most people can only watch half the film before getting upset. BUT it does make you think.

75% of the film is staged, but a few bits are real CCTV films or private videos.

You have been warned....

I thought these adverts (fake ones) were good.  I'm not being sarcastic  or anything.  But what I mean is they hit you square in the face, make you sit up and think of the last journey you had in your car before you saw these.  And I think there a good way of making people re-think the way they drive, a sort of 'wake-up call' that your lifes precious, so just be extra careful.

Also think instead of adverts for tea bags, washing up liquid, paints, etc etc, I think all of these video clips should be shown back to back at least once a week in between the television intermissions  :-?.

There used to be safety ads on tv, but I've not noticed any lately / these days, unless it's at 2am in the morning when not many people are watching tv ?.

Though I suspect it's all down to 'money' at the end of the day, and costs too much to buy some advert space between the programs, so safety groups won't bother trying ?  >:( .

certainly wouldnt hurt to show that as a road safety ad on TV would it? Dont show it to death as people will just turn off to its message but run it a couple of times every night for a week and itll become a talking point and maybe get its message across, albeit for a while at least.Problem with any health and safety issue is that people simply never really think about the potential consequences of their actions until it happens to them and its then too late. Makes you think :'(

:( if they showed more stuff like this on these "police camera action" type programs it might take some of the "glamour" of driving fast,as it is all people see is drivers walking away from accidents as it is deemed unacceptable to show death and serious injuries, time to show people what really happens :(

I've been cut out of the wreckage once when i was a young 'un, it was an RTA not on the banger track. No big injuries but my feet were bent backwards under the seat with the pedals in my shins, dashboard in my legs & steering wheel in my chest. My bonny face had broken the windscreen but the aforementioned pushed me back in. I was conscious throughout & it was my own stupid fault for driving like a pillock so i deserved it.
   Two other trains of thought.
1 :- The shock of the flashing lights, emergency vehicles has a higher shock factor than the collision itself. But the skill of those staffing them, getting you out with gas/air & encouragement, putting you at ease when you don't deserve it is priceless. All Fire/police/ambulance/forces etc should be paid footballers salary because they deserve it & the tarty footballers should be paid a basic living wage to compensate..seehow devoted they are then!
2:- Thank god i only hurt myself. Acted or not the expressions on the faces of those who'd realized this is'nt just a crash i've killed a child, parent, anyone who was innocent.
Not sure how or if i'd cope with that.

My God, i'm as cynical as the next person, and i've seen & experienced death in a few of it's guises but this affected even  me. It should be required viewing every morning & every evening IMO :( :'(
