I didn't watch the programme but I think Stobart pulled a smart move when they created their cult following.  Such a good idea no-one has copied it in the trucking industry AFAIK.

It actually smacks of a well-run business as well.  Uniforms and washed trucks.

Regarding the "spotters" here in the port town of Immingham we have an old boy by the name of George. He has an F reg VW LT campervan painted up in the old Stobart colours with his nameplate in the window, stickers all over...home is where you park it etc.
   He drives out to the A180 & flashes/waves at every wagon heading in or out of the dock. Been told he's a retired driver...must've loved the job more than i do!!!

i think the tv programmers have missed a trick. instead of focusing on all these professions to make tv, why not round up these odd types from around the country and put them in a tv studio together.

I though the directionally challenged tanker driver was a bit of a pratt!

I can go better than that! Had a younger guy pass his class1 so the boss gives him his first artic run, he'd done about 18 months on an 18t rigid prior to this incident. Anyway, 24 pallets of stuffed toys (if you remember the boots wild animals they were giving away about 6 or 7 years ago?) to various points, first drop Leamington. After 3 hours and no word, he was told to call in when he'd tipped each drop, so the traffic office call him to make sure he's alright. Convo went something like this:-

Traffic: Are you alright?
Driver: Yes mate I'm on the M25.
T: WTF?
D: On my way to Lymington!

His first debrief as a class1 didn't go well

interesting the Volvo FH cost £80k and the MAN truck £150k, unless that was including the tanker?  :-/
