Found a con man
« on: 09 October 2010, 22:00:54 »

Unfortunately the Police were too slow.

Driving down the lanes on the way home, slowed down past some horses and got flagged down by a gate where a car was parked boot and bonnet up.

My wife noticed a car drive off after a person got out and joined them.

Very quickly they said from Turkey and speak bad English, haev to get to London and need money, and wanted to give a ring in exchange for cash.

Sue got worried, I was thinking WTF, so I drove off.

Called Police about 5 minutes later, they said scam (as I thought) they use cheap ring.

They calle dme 3 or 4 hours later to get more details so they could drive there to investigate.

Anyway they are investigating but I was the only person to call them abput it.

So watch out for dodgy blokes trying this on >:( >:(

They were using a similar scam in Paris earlier this year. They'd pretend they'd just picked up a ring as you were walking past and show you their new 'find'. The first time this happened SWMBO did take the ring from him and we set off walking .... it soon became obvious he wanted a share of the ring's value - he did find it after all  :-? Scammers No2 & 3 were quickly sorted though .....  ;D  ;D  ;D  ;D

This happened to me about 2 years ago in France.
They were on the side of the road with the bonnet up saying 'ran out of fuel' and asking for money for a ring.
I was only 1/4 mile from my house so I said I would go and get some fuel for him,,,he just turned around and went back to catch the next passer bye.
Obviousely a widely used scam.

This is serious. Please BEWARE!

Over the last month I became a victim of a clever 'Eastern European' scam while out shopping. Simply dropping into Sainsbury’s for a bit of shopping has turned out to be quite traumatic. Don't be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends.

Here's how the scam works: Two seriously good-looking 20-21 year-old girls come over to your car as you are packing your shopping into the boot. They both start cleaning your windscreen, their breasts almost falling out of their skimpy T-shirts. It's impossible not to look especially with all the rain we have been having.

When you thank them and offer them a tip they'll say 'No' and instead ask you for a lift to another store, in my case Tesco. You agree and they get in the backseat. On the way, they start undressing. Then, when you pull over to remonstrate, one of them climbs over into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, while the other one steals your wallet!

I had my wallet stolen on August 4th, 9th, 10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th, 24th & 29th. Also September 1st, 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th, 30th, three times last Saturday and very likely again this coming weekend.

So Be Warned!

P.S. Tesco have wallets on sale for £2.99 each!
