Dell Computer icons
« on: 18 October 2010, 19:36:08 »

After discovering that both our Panasonic HDD recorders don't record direct to DVD ( 3 hour tape to HDD and then 3 hour to transfer to DVD due to size  >:() I'm trying to determine if either my desk top or lap top will accept VHS input and record/burn to disc.
Both have "Intel graphics media accelerator integrated " cards which I assume are the video input cards .
Anyway , I 've googled it all but am still unsure if I can go direct as I am unsure what the lower three inputs are on this photo.
Anyone help ?

Nope, you don't have the required hardware (capture card for analogue, or firewire (if a recentish video camera))

All those in the pic are for sound.

They are the colour coded speaker outputs for stero. 2.1, 4.1 sound etc.

One double up as line in (Blue i think) and pink is the mike.

Nothing there is for video.

I think I just need one of these ,
http://cgi.ebay.ie/USB-Capture-Card-VHS-TV-DVD-S-Video-Grabber-XBOX-360-/120635262398?pt=UK_Computing_Computer_Components_Graphics_Video_TV_Cards_TW&hash=item1c166c05be
Seen similar devices, and they do work. Quality often not great, but then VHS is poor.

That kind of device is probably the best of the cheap devices.

Well bought one off E Bay Ireland from a seller that I've used before .It arrived today and I've spent three hours trying to load the utter crap chinese software on to both Vista and XP .I sent a message to the seller saying that the software refused to load and he actually phoned me and told me that 50% of them don't work due to software problems and he was stopping selling them. He insisted that the software could be loaded but after following instructions taking me through device manager /searching for updates /unistalling /reloading etc, etc ,etc It's going back tomorrow.
Rubbish ................... >:( >:( >:(

Edit, The seller just e mailed me to tell me that he has issued a full refund ( which he has ) and told me to keep it and persevere as it will work.
An honourable man eh ?  :y
