Somehow managed to do my back in yesterday (good and proper) and never been in so much pain

Can barely move, sciatic pain, pins and needles in both feet, physically cannot stand up straight or stand up/sit down or lift my left leg. SWMBO has to help me through the transition from one state to the another, although once there it's not too bad... Still ache but just about bearable now the pain killers I've chucked down my neck have taken the edge off.

Not like me as I rarely suffer real pain and avoid taking pills ordinarily. SWMBO has known me 22 years, watched me walking 3 days after knee surgery and witnessed me go through some rather painful experiences without more than a grimace on my face.

She's rather concerned but I'm hoping to feel a little better tomorrow... Although I have called in sick now.

But, as TB would say... It's only pain. It'll go away!

Anything to avoid driving a rear wheel drive car in the snow, yet you all have a go at front wheel drive car owners.......



Seriously though sorry to hear about your affliction and hope it resolves soon..

Get yourself checked out Paul, at the least see a Physio to learn the recovery position for a slipped disc (or do a Google you may find it there!). Ask your GP for Tramadol or similar strength painkiller (contradiction in terms since they don't kill it they only dull it!) & buy some antihistamine tablets in case you get itching with the painkillers. Make sure you don't slouch in a chair, keep yourself upright with a  cushion or some form of support in the small of your back, & ditto when you go to bed. I hope it is just a strain & nothing more Paul, you have my utmost sympathy & understanding!

Going to take a view on it in the morning... Have convinced SWMBO that I don't need to go to A&E after speaking to the emergency quack but can't get a comfortable position

We've got a whole pharmacy of various pills and potions here and Tramadol is in the box... But I don't like taking pills at all so will avoid it unless it's a last resort (tomorrow if I haven't slept tonight )

In another half an hour I can take Codeine and Diclofenec again (at double the normal dose by order of the doc ) so should get a little relief for some sleep. Also been using a Tens machine all evening

I did 'something' to my back a while back and spent four days flat on my back (and front, which was more comfortable somehow) with the most excruciating agony I've ever experienced every time I moved - heck, it took me an hour to make it down the stairs to get the Ibuprofen & paracetamol (and to start necking the former like they were going out of fashion!)

It was that bad that I called my mum (poor dear, nothing she could do, she's 100 miles away with no car!)

back pain not much worse than that speak to you doc and ask him/her for feldeine melt (think its spelt that way) within half hour of taking you will feel a world better and they help to get you mobile. I only take these when thing get really bad but they are good

That's what SWMBO thinks and I must confess, I've just looked up the symptoms and treatment and I do tick all the boxes on the symptoms page and am doing all the right things treatment wise

Paul, I understand that, believe me, I do not like to take drugs that mask the pain.  However sleeping well is important, have a couple of night caps and go and see your GP as soon as....

sorry to hear that mate,i get sudden jerks then im paralysed from the waste down. take a bucket to bed, frigging nightmare if you have to get up in the night.paracetomol and tramadil.ive been drinking gallons of water since 6pm, my blood pressure is 164/93 at the moment and ive got pins and needles in my hands and chest. so have to ring doc in morning as the sweating is not going down.

No issues with driving, and probably will be tomorrow if we need to go out as SWMBO isn't confident in snow.

havent had a drink since sunday, mouthful of jd last night for my throat and thats it. its all these bloody tablets i'm on i think
