2 to 3 inches now, a piffling amount compared to some parts of the country. We escaped most of it.

Being a dirty old stoppout that I am, I left a cold, but relatively snow free Luton this morning. Milton Keynes, nothing. Towcester, nothing. Silverstone, nothing. Brackley Hatch (about half a mile from Silverstone, hit it like a brick wall.  A43 was treacherous, and the fun and games getting up 'Brackley Mountain'.  Quite nasty, as all roads untreated (and I like driving in snow).

Though the worse of my problems were when I arrived home - she wasn't happy I hadn't called, and she was worried sick. Opps

There`s an even 2ft. of snow here now.....`trying to work out how long it`ll take me to clear enough of the driveway-track across the fields (as two wheel-ruts) to reach the nearest tarmac road; 500 metres away......feeling gutted, alone and miserable.

I was thinking about you yesterday when on radio 4 they were speaking to a reporter in Llanberis who was talking about the problems there.

A big warm virtual hug for you Debs, now Heathrow is closed it looks like the OOFers will have my presence for a little bit longer

What a f***** nightmare!!! There are that many abandoned cars round here all dumped with no consideration for other road users. Left the house at 14:45 to do the 2 miles to work for 15:30. Ended up leaving the car halfway as I just couldn't make the longer, less steep of the 2 hills I had to choose from. Some coffin dodger in a 10 plate Jag decided to get himself out of shape at the bottom of the hill which resulted in me having to stop  So with my momentum gone and not a prayer of getting up the hill without it I parked up and walked the last 3/4 of a mile. Coming back was easy, I just reversed back onto someones driveway and off back home. Got to the bottom of the close I live on I had to stop to let someone come out so momentum gone again. Made it halfway up the close before I managed to turn the ABS light on So I just parked it up. I've now got dry socks on and a hot cup of tea and I'm not going anywhere for the rest of the day!!!

I`ve been out shovelling for most of the day and cleared two parallel  18" wide wheel tracks, about 250 yards long in the 2 ft. snowpack depth; if there`s no further drifting tonight, I hope to be able to clear the other 250 yards (or so) of driveway, towards the nearest paved road, tomorrow.
I hate feeling cut-off.....it`s so lonely and isolating; but at least I`ve done 'something'.

Some of these snow reports would be really useful..........if we knew where they were coming from!!!
