It's been very picture-squeue here as well.

Taken an hour or so ago.  This is the third time since yesterday I've dug out this half of the driveway.

Can you not use the big tractor to make tracks for the disco to drive along....... :-?

Hope you are OK anyway.... :y

The snow`s that deep that I can`t even see the driveway`s alignment and the ground is so really boggy/soft on each side of the narrow rocky-track, so 6" off line and the 8 tonne tractor would go straight-in up to it`s axles (as would the Disco) :'(

When I`ve used the John Deere to 'mark' the driveway in previous snowfalls; its`weight has simply compacted the snow into super-dense ice and it`s then 'glazed' and taken weeks to thaw. :'(

There`s simply no substitute for 'elbow grease'...and before it`s compacted; the snow can actually be shoveled reasonably-well using a wide plastic shovel.

I did pay a contractor to come`plough the driveway one year; but ended up having spend the best part of a day trying to to rescue his tractor with mine....and still got a large-bill, even though He`d only cleared 25 yards of the 500 yard total. :(

 :o :o :o

You mean.. snow tyres won't fix that, cem?  ;D :D :D

Does anyone have a sleigh? Just in case we have to mount a rescue mission ;)

Well looks like we have got off lightly again going by others posts and pics, looks similar to Aarons pics round here. 2 or 3 inches at the most, yet 8 inches in Hearhrow.  :-/

Monday morning should be interesting.

Clucking Bells :o

I got back from an evening on the town at around 11:30am this morning - snowing hard and fast, and settling, but probably an inch at that point.

Went out for a walk around 3:30pm for an hour or so, it was around 6" then, though drifting badly where the hedges were broken.

Just looked out of teh patio door, going by the wall holding my flower beds up, its between 10 - 12" now :o :o :o

Is it a problem is now ABOVE the dampcourse?

Some of our polish colleagues are a little bemused. They get snow reliably every year, no fail, no gritted roads no help at all, your on your own.So they just deal with it. Winter studded tyres in winter, summer tyres in summer. It's the norm.

Here we never know what we're going go get until it's too late. It's not worth buying winter tyres, they may get used for a week or a month or not at all for 5 years. Same with the rest of the snow paraphernalia.

Although recently it's looking more serious it has to be said.
