I can count on one hand how many times we have had snow more than a couple of inches deep in the last thirty years. As Michael Fish was once quoted we are blessed with a mild micro climate. However we have just had the heaviest snow in my area for forty years :o. Transport systems ground to a halt. No trains, no buses, roads are a nightmare. No sign of gritters even on the main trunk roads. I don't think our local authority owns a snow plow. I concidered closing my shop because of the weather for the first time in nearly thirty years of trading, but decided to open and did more trade than last Saturday :y I can't decide wether my customers are hardy or just mad [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif] Freezing keen on the fallen snow now If we get any more snow fall on top of this it's going to really be fun :o

We seem to be getting of lightly again, looking at sky sports news there's heavy snow in north London as the ARSEnal game is off, various games off around the country too.  :'(

Ours is thawing a lot when the sun is out...  ...reckon it will be interesting when the temp drops when sun goes down.

Not that it matters, although I've cleared the drive and the car, I can't get it out of my road - shame, as they have ploughed the main road with the roundabouts between my end of town and Mrs G's parents place...

You have sun!? Send it here!  :D

It hasn't been above freezing point since Thursday here, according to the outside thermometer (apparently it hit -8 last night). Consequently it still looks like it just snowed outside.. apart from next doors driveway which he cleared this morning (no idea why, he never parks his vehicles on it anyway!)

It's freezing in the house, too.. I really need to get cavity wall insulation and the loft insulated properly - while the heating is off between 9am and 3.30pm it's down to <15C in the house. Brrr.

I've just been well and truly caught in the snow! I decided to take Belle my dog out as it was beginning to get dark. It wasn't that cold, only about 0 or 1 I'd say. There was only a few remnants of ice left from last week. I went round a lovely sunken lake that was still frozen over completely. Round another lake with the swans and the ducks on, huddled up in the only bit that wasn't frozen.

I just started heading back (still 2 miles away from home) then I saw a haze about half a mile away over some street lights. Uh oh! Then whoosh there must've been an inch of snow in 15 mins. I know 1 inch doesn't sound like much, but it came down so quickly. Anyway I'm back now, it's still snowing, there's a bout 2 inches now.

I suppose it serves me right for whinging about people whinging about the snow! Although i enjoy it!

Frozen lakes & rivers are very picturesque .. :) A friend of mine took this picture of the Grand Union Canal this weekend:

Haven't seen moving water frozen over like that since I was growing up by the river Ouse.  :)

Had around 8 inches of snow here yesterday, between lunchtime and 9pm. Mig was showing minus 7 on the way home from work this morning.
The slipping sliding journey to work recommences in about half an hour, getting bored with it now. Would rather just get there quickly, with no fuss.

That's a good picture there Aaron! I thought about a few but ti was too dark. It was like a winter wonderland. It reminds me of the Chronicles of Narnia!
