do you think they encourage smoking?? i think it encourages choice of brand not people to start.
as a smoker myself they have never influenced me. all my family are smokers although my mum and dad both packed up this year through threats from the nhs. mum is 77 and dad is now 80. why should i be pressured into packing up smoking if i do noy want to. either an outright ban or leave smokers alone.

what do you think of this judges decision to ban the advertising of anti smoking.

I think it can glamourise smoking to the young and impressionable, and I dont think it should be allowed. Im sure I was influenced by advertising such as the Black & Gold JPS  Lotus when I was in my teens.

most young people start smoking to look older and cause there mates egg them on to try it. thats why i started. 18 pubs closed down in the borough here last year through the smoking ban and the price hike, 4 pubs a week close down. most people in my pub smoke and those who dont couldnt care less if we were allowed to smoke in pubs or not, how much revenue has govt lost through this, and the only ones who have gained are the supermarkets selling cheap booze.

I was impressed by the black and gold JPS Lotus ... but it never inspired me to put a roll of dried, dead plants in my mouth and incinerate it!

It might influence choice, but not so sure it starts smokers off on the road to perdition.

i make you right Albs - i first started smoking i subconsciously went for black JPS probably because it was the coolest looking car in F1 - specially with Ayr Toon Centre at the wheel

i had to make do with 10 no.6 for 10 and a half pence.they were probably the smallest ones going.

Well advertising never coerced me into smoking, started when I was 26, cos all the other folk kept stopping for fag breaks while I was still workin earning their bonus, so started smokin with them

To be honest the ads never made a difference to me but we didnt have soooooooo many bloody do gooders kicking around when I was growing up

They have been on about shops only been allowed to sell them from under the counter.... to be honest   this will make them  more appealing to kids as they will just smoke to piss more people off

I have never smoked cigarettes, thankfully, but I'm sure that there are many who enjoy the experience.

That said it's bound to be good news if a smoker decides to stop although sadly it appears to be a difficult thing to do.
