So .. who has ice?
« on: 10 January 2011, 11:00:18 »

Apparently we do, as people managed to crash often enough on the Bagshot Road (The home of chrisgixer's favourite speed trap) to close it both ways 'due to ice' this morning..

What ice?! It was 3C this morning and the only ice I saw was in puddles at the side of the road... Grrr. Thanks to that it took an hour and a quarter to make it two miles down the road (and then 30 minutes to make it the next 10).

Passed about 3 cars in ditches this morning. No evidence of anything slippery (yes, I do know how to identify it ::)) by the time I dragged my @rse out of bed.

Getting up early - it does you no good at all. :P

That might explain the Astra I saw parked in a ditch this morning (on a fairly straight 30mph limit road and he was a good 40' off the road!) ..

A nice sheet of ice on my way to work this morning.  I was going to cycle but thought better of it.

Ground-level humidity has been high recently which along with the high pressure (which pushes air downwards) probably combined to generate more frost than normal for this temperatures experienced.

A mate broke his leg yesterday morning on the black ice on the road, he'd gone out on his pushbike and got dumped on the road pretty quickly. I'd been out in the car that morning and conditions on all roads were lethal - I'm surprised there weren't more accidents about

I ignored this thread at first thinking of chavs and their In Car Entertainment..... ::) ::) ::)

Some very naughty roads this morning, had to use second, in auto, at one point to control the car on a hill taking Miss Vamps to school, did not dare hit the brakes... ::) ::) ::)
