I want one.....................
« on: 11 January 2011, 15:56:12 »

Just been in a Westfield/Tiger/Caterham/thingy with a 1400 TURBO Hayabusa engine in it.

Suffice to say it is both quick and frightening in its acceleration, and definately a different experience to riding my '900 at speed-as well as a damn lot louder!!

Mmm................nice weekend toy..................

They are great to drive on the track and bloody horrible on the road and all because the engine is not suited to getting the vehicle moving from a standing start!  :y

.. and if you've got any sense you'll have no reverse gear either because you'll have binned the sh1te reverse box. ;D

I have fond memories of arriving off the ferry in Dublin one foul night and leading a group of half a dozen cars, half of which were bike engined, all of whom assumed I knew where I was going, up several dead ends in the pi55ing rain then watching them trying to turn round. ;D

No reverse gear, too much camber on the road to roll, other than into the kerb, not enough torque to spin up the rear wheels to "improve the turning circle". ;D

I can't imagine a Hayabusa turbo lasts that long, but, equally, can't think of much with that sort of power-to-weight ratio (while it lasts).

Yeh but, for the sake of an extra 100Kg's in a car that weights approx 500Kg's plus 40Kg's of fuel and 100Kg's of driver, is it worth it?

It's not an original Reliant chassis, it's got a tubular 'space frame' inside a modified Bug body. Passengers could do with their right leg amputating though cos the foot well is somewhat compromised by the exhaust.

See, this is precisely why I'll never get in a Westfield and nothing to do with the fact that I don't fit. I know I'll end up wanting one!
