"unknown" mobile phone calls
« on: 12 January 2011, 12:08:51 »

it seems at the moment if you advertise on the internet through a directory or otherwise, you get more calls from people trying to sell you stuff rather than customers.

the ones that really irritate are the ones which come up on your screen as "unknown" and never leave a message.

can an "unknown" call be a customer or shall i leave my phone on "block"?

i always thought if you with held your number it said so on the recipients screen and business phones came up as unknown like say a company with loads of extension numbers, imho it doesnt hurt to answer them cos you reserve the right to hang up amd itsn poss they or some might be customers

I thought the unknowns where either witheld or more usually larger organisations from an extension, wouldn't show anyway. Personally I never answer unknown numbers, it's either a sales call or grief of some sort. But then mines a personal number.

I ALWAYS answer these dodgy unknown calls, if its a genuine customer they get what they want, if it's an idiot trying to waste my time, it's their wasted money

if it is an idiot, i answer the phone and ask who's calling, then i stop them mid-sentence and tell them they've rang the scene of a serious crime and find out exactly why they're calling the "victim" and asking how they know them, and when they last spoke to them, and when they last saw them, and how well did they get along!

If I do answer a sales call, usually on the land line, if they don't take the hint at the first "no thankyou" I just put the phone on the side and leave them talking. They tend not to ring again either. Thier bill, not mine.
