Bathroom DIY sourcing advice.
« on: 16 January 2011, 15:12:29 »

Our downstairs loo and our bathroom are looking very tatty so time to redo them.

Firstly I cannot find any colour except public toilet white for loos and stuff.

We want blue downstairs and aqua (blue green) upstairs.

Secondly tiles

Where can we buy nice tiles from with a nautical theme, eg boats, lighthouses, dolphins ect.

Thanks

Martin

White and chrome  :y

Tiles white with either a silver border tile or random silver patterned tiles.....to break up the white tiles.
Chrome finishing on the tile edges.....
Chrome taps/rad etc ....
Build a shower cubilce out of clear glass blocks with random blue glass blocks and chrome door
Finish off with blue glass tiles (non slip) on the floor.

I actually did this in one house i owned......looked great in the end... :y altho cost a small fortune building the glass block wall.....as the builder had to reinforce the floor to take the weight (it had floorboards originally).....so you can skip this idea if you like  :D

Fitted with 3bar power shower and jacuzzi bath....another idea to skip if you like.... ;D

Are you stuck in the seventies man? you wont find a coloured suite anywhere now unless its secondhand.
White is where its at, and quite rightly so :y

White is too cold a colour, currently our tatty ones are apricotish, prefer a more blue one. white is also too public toilet.

Nothing wrong with the 70s either

Anybody who buys a coloured bathroom suite these days wants thier head looking at!

Deffo white, the warmth comes from your tiles and decor.....and a white suit lets you change the look and feel without the further expense iof changing the suite again.

I vaguely recall some 'tasteful' yellow ones in our house in the 70s. Matched the bright yellow kitchen.

Martin Imber - if you want a 1970s suite, have a chinwag with local property developers who renovate old houses by ripping out those awful, tasteless coloured suites during the modernisation of them. I'm sure they would be glad not to have to pay business rates for rubble :y
